Overview
Rosulate terrestrials with fleshy fasciculate roots. Leaves lanceolate, petiolate. Inflorescences terminal, erect, pedunculate, spicate racemes. Flowers tubular, greenish white. Sepals fused at the base forming a short tube, the petals free. Lip unlobed with prominent lobe-like auricles, clawed. Column short; pollinia 2, naked.
Etymology
From the Greek belos, meaning dart, and glotta, meaning tongue, referring to the shape of the lip similar to an elongate arrow-head.
Distribution
A genus of seven species from Mexico to Bolivia.

Grow plants of Beloglottis in small pots of sandy loam. Provide intermediate temperatures and medium light levels. Water regularly during active growth. Reduce watering after flowering when the plants will go semi-dormant. Resume regular watering after the onset of new shoots.
