Overview
Miniature terrestrials arising from paired tubers. Stems short. Leaves several, basal, linear, leathery. Inflorescences erect terminal pedunculate racemes, the floral bracts conspicuous. Flowers nodding, green-gold. Sepals and petals free, spreading, subsimilar, subequal. Lip unlobed or obscurely three-lobed. Column short, without wings or foot; pollinia 2, mealy, on a common viscidium.
Etymology
From the Greek, chamai, meaning lowly, and orchis, meaning orchid, referring to the small stature of the plants.
Distribution
A monotypic genus native to central and northern Europe. The genus has been spelled Chamaeorchis in the past.

Grow plants of Chamorchis in small pots of rich loam with the addition of limestone. Provide full light, cool-intermediate temperatures, and regular watering throughout the year. The pots should be placed in an alpine greenhouse or coldframe during the winter dormancy.
