Overview
Saprophytic achlorophyllous terrestrials with tuberoid-coralloid roots. Leaves reduced to colorless bracts. Inflorescences terminal few-flowered racemes. Flowers proportionately large, tubular, translucent white. Sepals subsimilar, the lateral sepals basally fused and forming a spur, the petals free. Lip three-lobed, short-clawed, basally long-auriculate, the midlobe lobulate. Column straight, the anther dorsal; pollinia 2, granular, with an apical viscidium.
Etymology
Named for French botanist Jean Jacques DeGranville for his contributions to the flora of French Guiana and South American palms.
Distribution
A monotypic genus endemic to French Guiana.
