Overview
Miniature terrestrials arising from ellipsoid tubers. Leaves one, basal, clasping the stem. Inflorescences terminal pedunculate laxly few-flowered racemes, the floral bracts conspicuous. Flowers cupped, white. Sepals and petals free, spreading. Lip three-lobed, sessile, with a basal swelling and a low basal callus. Column erect; pollinia sectile.
Etymology
From the Greek dracos, meaning dragon, and monticola, of the mountains, referring to the dragon-like base of the lip and the species’ natural habitat.
Distribution
A monotypic genus endemic to South Africa.
