Overview
Monopodial epiphytes and occasional lithophytes. Stems elongate, leafy, sparsely branched, rooting at the base. Leaves alternate, distichous, articulated to persistent leaf sheaths, the leaf sheaths bearing a whip-like ligule opposite to the leaf. Inflorescences axillary, subsessile racemes. Flowers small, few. Sepals and petals subsimilar, free, spreading. Lip unlobed or obscurely lobed at the base, ovate, acute, without callus, spurred, the spur as long as the lip. Column short, the rostellum bifid; pollinia 2, on a common stipe and viscidium.
Etymology
Honoring Dr. W. J. Eggeling who contributed to the botany of the epiphytic orchids of Uganda.
Distribution
A genus of three species ranging from Ghana to Uganda.
