Overview
Terrestrials arising from oblong tubers. Stems erect. Leaves few, cauline, heart-shaped, sessile. Inflorescences terminal racemes. Flowers tubular, green. Sepals and petals free, subsimilar. Lip three-lobed, spurred. Column short; pollinia 2, each on a separate viscidium.
Etymology
Perhaps honoring Benedetto Gennari, an early Italian religious painter.
Distribution
A monotypic genus from the Mediterranean, Madeira and the Canary Islands.
