Overview
Miniature epiphytes lacking pseudobulbs, with prominent roots. Leaves small, semiterete, equitant. Inflorescences few-flowered racemes, flattened, winged, proportionately large for the plant size. Sepals and petals free, spreading, subsimilar, subequal. Lip three-lobed, sessile, without callus. Column very broad at the base, with broad rounded wings at the base, the rostellum recurved, fang-like; pollinia 4, in two unequal pairs, on an elongate, common, linear-spatulate stipe and minute viscidium.
Etymology
Honoring W. Hofmeister, a microscopist.
Distribution
A monotypic genus ranging from Colombia to Brazil and Bolivia.
