Etymology
From the Greek mikros, meaning small, and pera, meaning sac, referring to the small saccate spur.
Distribution
A genus of 17 species distributed from northeast India to New Guinea. The genus has been referred to as Camarotis for most of its history in both botany and horticulture.
Care and Culture Card
See basic growing conditions and care information below.
Grow plants of Micropera in pots or baskets of medium-grade epiphyte mixture. Provide intermediate temperatures, bright light levels, and regular watering throughout the year. Given their vining nature, most of the root system of these plants are aerial roots. The plants may be slabbed with a pad of moisture-retaining material at the roots provided that high humidity and quite frequent watering is maintained.
