Etymology
From the Greek sarx, meaning fleshy, and phyton, meaning plant, referring to the extremely thick, rigid leaves.
Distribution
A genus of two species endemic to the Philippines.

Grow plants of Sarcophyton in pots or baskets with medium-grade epiphyte mixture. Provide warm temperatures, very bright light levels, and regular watering throughout the year. Repot plants of Sarcophyton only when necessary as the root systems are set back by disturbance.
