Overview
Monopodial terrestrials and epiphytes. Stems short or elongate. Leaves alternate, distichous, strap-shaped, obliquely bilobed at the apex. Inflorescences axillary pedunculate racemes, subequal or longer than the leaves. Flowers resupinate, white. Sepals and petals free, spreading. Lip three-lobed at the apex, spurred. Column short, without wings or foot; pollinia 2, on a common stipe attached to two viscidia.
Etymology
Named to honor the wife of German orchid taxonomist Rudolf Schlechter whose maiden name was Sobenikoff.
Distribution
A genus of four species endemic to Madagascar.

Grow plants of Sobennikoffia in pots or baskets of medium-grade epiphyte mixture. Provide intermediate to warm temperatures, medium light levels, high humidity, and regular watering throughout the year. The plants are somewhat cyclic in their growth and watering should be reduced to an extent during periods of inactive growth.
