Etymology
From the Greek sphyra, meaning hammer, and rhynchos, meaning snout, alluding to the shape of the rostellum.
Distribution
A monotypic genus endemic to Tanzania.

Mount plants of Sphyrarhynchus on small slabs without any moisture-retaining material at the root. Provide high light levels, intermediate to cool-intermediate temperatures, and regular watering throughout the year. The roots should dry out between waterings.
