Overview
Leafless monopodial epiphytes. Inflorescences axillary, one-flowered. Flowers resupinate. Sepals and petals free, spreading. Lip unlobed, spurred. Column stout, straight; pollinia 2, nestled in the deeply concave apex of a common spatulate stipe attached to a minute viscidium.
Etymology
From the Greek tainia, meaning ribbon, and rhiza, meaning root, alluding to the flattened roots.
Distribution
A monotypic genus in tropical West Africa.
