Overview
Scandent monopodial epiphytes. Leaves alternate, distichous, bilobed. Inflorescences long-pedunculate, scapose, many-flowered racemes, the floral bracts prominent. Flowers yellow. Sepals and petals free, spreading. Lip three-lobed, with a short, funnel-shaped spur. Column fleshy, stout; pollinia 2, porate, on a stipe and viscidium.
Etymology
From the Greek name for Sri Lanka meaning copper-colored.
Distribution
A monotypic genus endemic to South India and Sri Lanka.

Grow Taprobanea on or with a support to accomodate the vining habit. Provide warm temperatures, frequent (daily) watering, and full sunlight. Without full light intensity, plants of Taprobanea will grow but not flower.
