Prosthechea-joaquingarciana-Rita-Emilia-CBR/AOS-2023-08-25 *SITF confirms this plant is Prosthechea joaquingarciana (Oct 2023).
This plant matches the description and photo of P. joaquingarciana in the IOSPE (as the synonym Anacheilum joaquingarcianum) and Pupulin's original description in Selbyana 22(1):19. 2001; a photo and drawing can be found in https://epidendra.com/. It is similar to P. radiata, but P. joaquingarciana has linear, subterete, sulcate pseudobulbs and spots on the segments with a widely ovate lip as does this plant. The pseudobulbs of this plant measure 25 cm, which is in range and the flower size also meets the description. This plant had many blooms on a two-leafed pseudobulb, which eliminates the 2-flowered P. baculus and P. baculibulbum, which has 3-leaves.

Plant native to Costa Rica. It was identified by Franco Pupulin who was on site and also the author of this species description (Prosthechea joaquingarciana Pupulin, Selbyana 22(1):19. 2001).

Prosthechea-campos-portoi-Irene CBR-2023-08-13 * SITF has determined this plant to be Prosthechea kautskyi, not campos-portoi (Aug 2023).
Based on the description in Harding and Withner, 2004, "The Cattleyas and their Relatives-The Debatable Epidendrums", P. campos-portoi (as Anacheilium campos-portoi) is a unifoliate and P. kautskyi (as Anacheilium kautskyi) is bifoliate. This plant, as shown in the photos, is definitely bifoliate and according to the description is not P. campos-portoi, but is P. kautskyi. The number of basal maroon stripes in the lip also match P. kautskyi better than P. campos-portoi. Flower size is large for P. kautskyi.

Prosthechea-karwinskii-2023-06-19 *SITF confirms this plant as Prosthechea karwinskii (Jul 2023).
Based on the characteristic flat shape of the bottom of the midlobe; it closely matches the photo in the AOS "Orchids" magazine, July 2020, pg. 524 and in the "Orchids of Mexico", 2005, Hagsater et. al. with good matches to photos in the OW and the IOSPE (as Euchile karwinskii).

Prosthechea-fragrans-2023-04-16 *SITF has determined this plant is Prosthechea chimborazoensis, not Prosthechea fragrans (May 2023).
This finding is based on correspondence received from the Montreal Botanic Gardens. The plant was previously identified as P. chimborazoensis from 1959 to 2008, but changed the name when it was considered synonymous with P. fragrans by Kew's Orchid Checklist; it was not returned to the correct name when Kew segregated the species into two separate taxons. The plant was wild collected in Ecuador by Jose Strobel in 1956 and identified as Epi. chimborazoensis by Garay in 1959. The major distinguishing feature separating the two species are spots on the sepals and petals on P. chimborazoensis and this plant; P. fragrans is whiter and devoid of spots.
