Angraecum-popowii-2022-08-28 *SITF confirmed this plant as Angraecum popowii (Nov 2022); matches Cribb and Herman's key in the Field Guide; leaves terete, stem abbreviated, leaves less than .2 cm diameter, sepals and petals 3.0cm, leaves are channeled; spur length was given at 7cm, but based on the dimensions of other segments in the photos, they are much longer, possibly 10-12cm; based on these characteristics, this plant keys to A. popowii (note the measurements given on the SITF form are reversed.).*

Plant came from flasks purchased from Popow Orchids at Tamiami show. Spur length 7-cm.

Brassavola-cucullata-2022-08-28 *SITF determined to be Brassavola appendiculata, not Brassavola cucullata (Sep 2022); this is a very good form of B. appendiculata, which has been historically misidentified as B. cucullata; B. cucullata is a more diminutive form of Brassavola with much smaller sepals and petals, not the long, elegant segments like B. appendiculata and this flower; a photo of the actual B. cucullata may be seen in the AOS Orchids magazine, August 2022 issue.*

 Even considering variations in P. Arjuna, the flower color, shape of the midlobe, side lobes and margins of the petals are inconsistent with P. Arjuna, which generally has tan to brown overlays and more undulated petals from P. Mimi Palmer and V. tessellata.***

Psychilis-krugii-Machiavelli-III-2022-08-25 *SITF confirmed this as Psychilis krugii (Oct 2022); this plant keys directly to P. krugii with the key characteristic of a large, prominent callus on the midlobe; the form and color of this flower also fit P. krugii, which differs from P. monensis with its much smaller, (not prominent) callus; the confirmation is supported by many images in the OW and orchidroots.com.*

Gongora-pardina-2022-08-24 *SITF confirmed as Gongora pardina (Sep 2022); the apparent larger than normal natural spread of the flower was due to the flower not being completely mature and the wings not having folded back into the usual position; this plant agrees with Rudolf Jenny's description of G. pardina; the determination is supported by photos on the OW, IOSPE and the orchidroots.com.*

This Gongora received an HCC, but the judging team did not feel qualified to know for certain if this was indeed pardina, so they wanted verification on it.
