Encyclia-peraltensis-2021-02-06Confirmed as Encyclia peraltensis (Apr 2022); this plant keys to Encyclia peraltensis using Dressler's key to Central American Species of Encyclia; it also matches the photo in Flickr by David Hunt and photos in the IOSPE; this flower appears to be slightly larger than described at 2.8-3.0 cm vs. 2.0 cm; the midlobe of E. peraltensis is sulcate ending in three parallel groves which appears to match this flower.

Encyclia-andrichii-Purple-Raze-2020-09-16Confirmed as Encyclia andrichii (Feb 2021); this species is very similar to E. kundergraberi, which is considered to be synonymous by the WCSPF; the very long, narrow leaves and small flowers fit the concept of E. andrichii and, although the inflorescence is not paniculate, as in the description, it most likely would be on a larger, more mature plant; this is an excellent match to the description and photo in Withner's "The Cattleyas and Their Relatives" Vol. VI.

Encyclia-aspera-2018-09-13Contested award; Confirmed as Encyclia angustiloba, not Encyclia aspera (May 2020); although similar to E. aspera, there are characteristic differences that separate the two; comparing these photos to the 20183292 award to E. angustiloba shows a definite match; the photos show almost identical callus and dark spotted anther cap; two similar species, E. microtis and E. aspera have column wings (horns) at the very front of the column; the horns of this flower are almost halfway back on the underside of the column, which best fits E. angustiloba.
