Forty-two flowers on two pendant 10.5 cm long inflorescences on two ovate canes up to 19 cm long; leaves lanceolate, alternating, 2.0 cm apart; sepals and petals dark cream heavily overlaid dark maroon proximally; lip green, heavily overlaid black-maroon,carunculate and crisped on margins; substance light; texture matte; recognized as a beautifully colored form of an unusual and infrequently exhibited/cultivated species known to taxonomy since 1825; found in the western Himalayas, Assam India, eastern Himalayas, Bhutan, Sikkim, Nepal and Thailand; confirmed by SITF
